Effective January 1, 2019, employers with 26 or more employees will have a minimum wage of $12 per hour. For those with less than 26 employees the rate will be $11 per hour. Again, these are the State minimum wage rates. Please note that an increase in the minimum wage also affects exempt or salaried employees.
The minimum pay for an exempt or salaried worker must be at least twice the State minimum wage. Certain municipalities and counties within California may have a higher minimum wage.
