The National Association of Manufacturers’ 2017 Manufacturing Summit, June 20-21, has just secured top U.S. leaders as keynote speakers to inform and inspire us before we make our way to Capitol Hill to discuss and, hopefully, drive the agenda in Washington as it relates to the manufacturing industry.
Vice President Mike Pence will get the summit started with the opening speech on Tuesday, June 20, at the Grand Hyatt in Washington, D.C., and House Speaker Paul Ryan will make a presentation before NAM members go to Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and inform legislators on issues of major importance to the industry. House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and other influential leaders from the Trump administration and Congress plan to attend the conference as well.
We have an unparalleled opportunity at this time to strengthen American manufacturing, benefiting the country now and in future decades. From tax and regulatory reform to infrastructure and workforce development, there is renewed interest at the highest levels in this crucial sector of the economy. With two days of congressional visits, we have a chance to get our concerns directly in front of legislators and their staff who conduct research, help write bills and do the legwork in getting legislation through committee and to the floor. These importance of these in-person meetings cannot be overstated.
There is strength in numbers, so we need to have an undeniable, potent presence. Your attendance and preparation are key. NAM will assist you with your congressional meetings so we present a coherent, relevant message. In addition to the role you can play in law making and regulation, you will also meet and confer with others in the manufacturing sector. The NAM Summit provides hours of free time to hear about others’ successes and challenges and share yours. Through collaboration and development of alliances, U.S. manufacturers can bolster their solidarity, creativity and vitality.
The welcome mat has been rolled out, but we must walk it to maximize our impact. Limited space at the conference remains, so we encourage clients and others to register now if you wish to attend: www.nam.org/summit.
